PROGRAMME
Samuel Beckett (1906-1989), whose works are already classics, is studied in a wide variety of scholarly institutions and with an impressive critical output devoted to his work.
The number and frequency of Conferences on his work organised in Italy does not seem to do justice to the importance of Beckett as a milestone in modern drama.
The aim of this Conference is to put Italian scholars in contact with foremost international experts (click here for a list of publications) on Beckett's work, thereby creating an opportunity for the exchange of ideas and discussion of the most recent developments in Italian and international criticism.
Members of the Scientific Committee are Profs. Chris Ackerley, Enoch Brater, Daniela Guardamagna, Daniela Caselli, Dr. Rossana Sebellin.
The following Beckett specialists have accepted our invitation to speak at the Conference:
Chris Ackerley, Enoch Brater, Mary Bryden, Daniela Caselli, Stanley E. Gontarski, Carla Locatelli, Mark Nixon, John Pilling, Rosemary Pountney, Giuseppina Restivo, Dirk Van Hulle.
There will be readings of Beckett’s plays, and a discussion with the great actress Giulia Lazzarini on the staging of Giorni felici with the direction of Giorgio Strehler, at the Piccolo Teatro di Milano.
